The Military University of Technology (MUT) in Warsaw is a state military technical school at the university level. It is one of the most experienced entities regarding CWA security issues in Poland and is the operator of the largest polish CWA laboratory. The Institute of Chemistry at MUT is a full-time organizational unit of the Faculty of New Technologies and Chemistry, established to conduct teaching and educational, research and training of scientific staff in the disciplines of ecology and environmental monitoring, explosives and fireworks and hazardous material and chemical rescue.
Together with VERIFIN, MUT will conduct analyses of a very broad spectrum of CWAs parameters and their degradation products as well as the assessment of risk. In order to improve Polish analytical capacity, MUT will purchase modern laboratory equipment partly financed by CHEMSEA. MUT will also provide a professional chemical security team for all the project cruises and for the transport of samples.
Because MUT has an advisory function to Polish authorities in legal issues and procedures related to CWAs, they will collaborate with FOI and CBRNE on the development of guidelines for accidentally fished chemical munitions and disposal of contaminated sediments. MUT will also organize the final CHEMSEA conference in Warsaw.
