Guidelines

- Unified guidelines
- Contingency plan
- Advisory body

At the moment there is no coordination between the many national and international structures and organisations dealing with the subject of chemical munitions. CHEMSEA will address this gap by creating a permanent Baltic CWA advisory body which will involve members of leading CWA research institutes around the Baltic Sea.

The CHEMSEA advisory body is planned as service to Baltic Sea Region governments and is expected to have multiple competences:

  • Active advice for maritime administrations in taking decisions related to issuing permits in CWA contaminated zones
  • Network of modern analytical centers providing quick, accurate and free-of-charge expertise in case of CWA leakage accidents
  • Lobbying for the introduction of CHEMSEA guidelines into national legislations
